The Lady Archers traveled to Waterton, Wisconsin last Friday to play against Maranatha Baptist University. The Archers fought hard, but came up just short in a thrilling five-set match against the Sabercats, falling 3-2 in a back-and-forth battle.
After losing the first set 25-17, the Archers responded with two victories in the second and third sets, scoring 25-19, and 25-17 respectively, thanks in large to Kiarra Henkel's 12 kills and 23 digs, Olivia Reid's 7 kills and a blocks, and Grace Vahey's 18 digs.
Despite building momentum in the middle sets, Moody struggled offensively in the fourth losing 25-12, and hitting -.122, which allowed Maranatha to force a decisive fifth set. The final frame was a nail-biter, with the Sabercats edging out the Archers 17-19 to win the game.
Though the Archers struggled with 21 service errors, they fought hard and managed to finish with 33 kills and 102 digs.
The Lady Archers will head to Waverly, MI, to face off against Great Lakes Christian College next Saturday, October 25th, for a 3 pm (EST) match.
