Moody Bible Institute battled hard against the strong NAIA side Mount Mary University, but fell in straight sets to Mount Mary University (16–25, 19–25, 17–25) on Wednesday evening. Despite the 3–0 loss, the Archers showed flashes of strong serving and defensive grit, pushing Mount Mary into long rallies and forcing numerous out-of-system plays.
From the opening set, Moody's serve kept Mount Mary under pressure. The Archers notched 16 service aces, led by Olivia Clem's 10, which repeatedly put the Blue Angels on their heels. However, Moody struggled to sustain offensive consistency. Attack errors often erased the momentum gained from strong serving runs, as the team finished with a low hitting percentage (17 kills, 18 errors on 104 swings).
The Lady Archers have had a strong end of September and start to October going 3-1 in the last four games. The next mountain they'll have to face is away at Maranatha Baptist University on October 17.
