Men’s Cross Country Competes at Concordia University XC Classic

The Men's Cross Country Team competed in their first 8k of the season at the Ken Weidt Classic, hosted by Concordia University in Wisconsin. The Archers placed 6th out of 7 teams with 176 points. Lawrence took first with 24 points, Concordia U. took 2nd with 62 points, and Harper College came 3rd with 82 points.

Senior Kevin Drake led the Archers with a time of 29:36, 11 minutes faster than last year's race. Senior Nate Brant was next in 31:00, setting a new PR. Freshman Joel Mead was close behind in 31:01, followed by Sophomore Will Hartke (31:17) and Junior Josiah Berni (32:44). Also strong finishes by our freshman Owen McKenney (33:20), Hayden Brown (33:55),  Uriah Anderson (34:03), and Hunter Otis (34:12); Sophomores William Derby and Silas McCormick finished in a close 38:08 and 38:17 respectively; Junior Nate Darge in 42:27, and Carlos Vasquez Lopez in 45:47.

Coach Troy Fichter: "The guys looked good on Saturday, and the team is really improving in its 2nd year as a program. This team is a deep group with a lot of potential!"

The Archers' next competition will be Friday, October 10th, at the Bethel Invitational hosted by Bethel University. The men's race will take place at 3:15 pm (EST) at St. Patrick's Park in South Bend, Indiana.
