The Lady Archers raced their first 5k of the season at the Bethel Invitational hosted by Bethel University of Indiana, at St. Patrick's County Park in South Bend, IN. The team placed ninth out of ten teams, with Notre Dame Running Club taking 1st place, Indiana Wesleyan grabbing second. This was the first 5k cross country meet for eight of the nine Lady Archer and helped them gain experience in racing.
Freshman Bethany Dressen finished first for the Archers in 23:10, followed closely by Leyda Gabriel in 23:15 and Aliyah Mead in 23:27. Ruby Gentz came next in 24:37, with Rebekah Berni and Taylor Nederveld pushing each other to finish in 24:41.3 and 24:41.8 respectively. Kaitlynn Rivera came next, completing her first-ever college race, followed by Hailey Childress and Cora Linsley.
Coach Troy Fichter “This is a really fun group of young ladies that are starting to develop into a true cross-country team.”
The Archers will compete next, on October 22, at the DII North Regionals Race hosted by Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa.
