The Archers traveled to Michigan this past Saturday to play against Grace Christian University in Wyoming, MI. Though the Archers struggled on the defensive end and lost to the Tigers 81-106, they locked in to an offensive rhythm and increased their shot average by nearly 20 shots.
Coach Michael Chapin saw improvement in dynamic flow on the court, and emphasized the need to hone in on the team's defensive strength. "It hurts to watch these talented guys play so hard on offense but then take breaks on defense. We had a lot of positives. We out-rebounded Grace. Our field goal percentage was above average: Thomas Wright scoring 31 points, Sherman Etienne putting up a double-double, and Gary Michel nearly getting a double-double, it still was not enough to overcome twenty-eight turnovers and bad defense." He continued, "If we keep turnovers down, play like we did today on offense, and amp up the defense we will start winning games."
The Archers next face off against Emmaus University this Tuesday, 6pm CST on the Archers' home court, followed by two more home games later this week: Thursday, January 29th at 6pm CST against Appalachian Bible College, and Saturday, January 31st against Great Lakes Christian College at 2pm CST.
