Improvements Not Enough To Secure Win

Improvements Not Enough To Secure Win
The Archer's closed out their December schedule at Indiana University South Bend Wednesday night.

Punching above their weight class, again, the Archers made a game of it in the first half. Four lead changes and two ties kept the game within single digits up until the last two minutes of the half. Sherman Etienne (#22), led the Archers with 13 points and seven rebounds. But foul trouble with the Archer's bigs, Wright and Stivers, forced the Archers to make substitutions that didn't match up well. The Titans extended their lead by 18 by the end of the half and went on to win 106 to 51.

Regardless of the score, Coach Chapin still found the positive to build on: "We knew that if we were going to win, it would have to be a Cinderella story. They punch above our weight class." We play teams like this to see how we size up, and see how we can improve to get better. It's great for the guys to know how close or far away we are from beating a team like the Titans. On paper it doesn't show but these non-league games get us prepared for our conference games. That first 18 minutes of play was exciting, something to be proud of. Lots of improvements, things we keep working on in practice are starting to come together. I'm really excited about the second half of the season."

The Archers will open the second half of their season with a home game against Maranatha Baptist University, on January 22nd, at 6pm CST.
