The Archers traveled to Bourbonnais, IL, to play against Olivet Nazarene (IL) this past Thursday. While the Archers stormed in with a strong opening, they ultimately struggled against the Tigers' impressive shooting accuracy and lost 64-118.
Thomas Wright (#34) and Sherman Etienne (#22) once again led the Archers, scoring 14 points each. Gary Michel (#13) shot 9 points, forced 6 turnovers, and snatched 4 rebounds. Trace Stivers (#25) contributed 8 points and 4 coordinated rebounds.
Head Coach Michael Chapin knew Olivet would be one of the toughest teams they had played all year, and knew the experience would provide great experience and growth opportunities for his team. He expressed: "The guys got off to a great start. One of the best starts of the year, in terms of controlling the ball, getting good shots, and applying good pressure on defense. We wanted to do a good job handling the ball and working in a few different looks on defense. Our guys did a great job cleaning up turnovers, which yielded the same number of field goal attempts we had compared to Olivet. But our shots didn't fall, and they just couldn't miss. Hard to beat a team when they shoot 69%. The guys are improving even though the score didn't reflect that tonight. We just got to put together a complete game. We do that, and it can be a special season."
This Friday (December 5th), the Archers will travel to Upland, IL, to play against Taylor University at 6 pm EST.
