The Men's Basketball team kicked off their regular season in Ankeny, Iowa, this past Saturday, facing off against the Faith Baptist Eagles. The Archers gave a great effort as a new team, but ultimately lost to the Eagles 112-78.
The Archers fought from the beginning, taking the early lead until the Eagles made a 3-pointer to tie the game at 12 points. Despite determined attempts from the Archers, they weren't able to regain their lead, and the Eagles entered halftime with a 61-42 lead.
The Archers rallied to close the gap with a quick 7 points early on in the second half, but the Eagles played a strong defensive game and increased their lead throughout the second half. Senior Thomas Wright played a strong game for the Archers, with 10 rebounds, 6 steals, 4 assists, and scoring 41 out of the 78 points for the Archers. The young team has a lot of potential, and Coach Chapin and Coach Christian are eager and committed to helping them grow and develop as athletes and as a team.
The Archers' next game is Thursday, November 6th, against Dayspring. The game will take place at their home court at 7 pm CST.
