Coach Dunn announced this week that he has chosen to step down as head coach for the men's basketball team for Moody Bible Institute. Before making his resignation public, Dunn met with his department as well as with the basketball team to share his decision. While reflecting back on his many years as a coach here, Dunn told us, "I have loved the opportunity to coach and disciple dozens of young men down through the years, and it thrills me to see so many of them advancing the cause of Christ around the world".
Dunn first joined the Moody family in 1992 as an assistant professor of Lifetime Fitness and as the men's basketball coach. Overall, Coach Dunn has been teaching and coaching for 40 years, 27 years here on Moody's Chicago campus, as well as at a Nebraska high school and at the college level in both Oregon and Oklahoma. His family resides here in the Chicago area, and Dunn will be continuing on as a professor of Lifetime Fitness and as the Athletic Director at Solheim. Coach Dunn told us that he's looking forward to being able to spend time with each athletic team and with the coaches and seeing the light of Jesus in each of them.
The entire athletic department will miss Dunn as the men's basketball coach, as well as the athletes who have played for him both past and present, and we extend our gratitude for his many years of dedication. We are all looking forward to having Dunn continue on as the Athletic Director and having him around Solheim for years to come. We pray that Coach Dunn, as well as his family and ministry at Moody, will be blessed during this transitional period.
